Bowties, Guitars, and Fiddles Oh My!

We were looking for a Sunday funday and went to the Magic Stick for the Justin Townes Earl show for some Nashville flavored music. Before heading upstairs we grabbed a few drinks from the bartender and also ran into Ryan Hooper from Pure Detroit and chatted with him for a bit. The opener Joe Pug is a singer/songwriter from Chicago whose songs come from the heart and are about life. In his words; “he writes the songs that need to be written, plays there for anyone who will listen, and tours as if he has no home.” He has the vocals to back up these ideas and you can glimpse a storyteller within his lyrics that pulls you in with great guitar melodies. After Pug, Justin Townes Earl took the stage coming out in a suit with a bowtie and full of Nashville charm. With a sweet southern drawl he said hello to the crowd. Accompanying him on stage were Bryn Davies on the upright bass and Josh Hedley on the fiddle. Justin is the son of Steve Earle and has been gaining growing attention on the Americana charts. He has also been featured on the cover of GQ magazine as on the 25 most stylish men in the world.
